aCommerce’s Delivery Service For SMEs Officially Launches Offline Location to Drive Ecommerce Forward

aCommerce SmartShip delivery simplifies the relationship between sellers and third party logistics providers in the digitizing country.

aCommerce delivery service SmartShip is opening its first service counter to become more available to more users and simplify logistics for the growing number of merchants in Thailand.

The country’s 2.7 million small, medium enterprises account for approximately 40% of the country’s GDP and provide over 10 million jobs nationwide. Growing in tandem is the rise of social commerce and estimated to be worth well over $500 million. Thailand is home of the most online shoppers who have purchased directly over a social channel like Facebook or LINE in the world.

As more Thais become comfortable with online transactions and volume orders increase, businesses, especially smaller-sized ones, need more optimized last mile solutions in order to scale.

Through the SmartShip service, any merchant can drop their parcel for quick delivery to their end customer anywhere in Thailand. The idea of having a dedicated offline counter is to save time for busy one-man run businesses like sellers on Lazada, LINE or Facebook.  

“Social commerce has taken off in Thailand, with 33 million LINE users and 7.8 million Instagram users, there are many more opportunities for budding entrepreneurs but they need help to scale,” says Tayo Kayode, General Manager of SmartShip. “SmartShip wants to provide efficient first and last mile solutions to support online retail growth as a whole.”

How to use SmartShip

SmartShip works with the country’s postal delivery service Thailand Post and leading shipping providers to facilitate deliveries in addition to aCommerce’s own delivery fleet. More third party logistics players will be integrated into the system in the future. For items that weigh half a kilogram, the price starts at 35 THB and the maximum weight limit is 10 kilograms.

The counter can be found conveniently in Hylife Network at Column tower and easily accessible via Asoke Skytrain station. The building houses merchants selling natural supplements and personal care who have already taken advantage of the SmartShip counter.

Since its launch in May, the SmartShip counter is steadily processing 50-60 orders per day.

The counter is also available for use for current users of SmartShip service online. The technology has recently been upgraded to incorporate a new feature called smart selection that recommends the most affordable 3PLs for any delivery in Thailand by accounting product size, payment method and delivery location.
